Many are afraid to enter the business in the current market. Because business means many people think it requires a lot of capital.

But many people may not know that there are some businesses that can be profitable even with low capital investment. Domestic Chicken Farming Business can be a timely business for those who are thinking of doing business with little capital.

Investing small amount of money in small area can make more income in short time. Chicken farming at home is an easy and profitable business. Housewives can set up and manage farms. There is also a high demand for chicken in the country.

Selection of Chickens

Good results can be expected if you start the business with 400-600 grams of chickens. Because chickens of this weight grow very fast. With a little proper care, they can weigh more than 2 kg within 2 months.

As a result, the profit figure in the market is also good. However, you have to be careful when choosing chickens. Since there is no hatchery, healthy and diseased chickens have to be selected by themselves.

Also, hybrid chickens from broiler farms cannot be kept in the yard. So pure varieties should be selected. For example, Rhode Island Red (RIR) or Black Australopithecus. Red or RIR and Black or Black Australopi chicks are available in Rajya Poultry Farm at Raghunathpur, Balurghat.

In recent times Banaraja, Giriraja, Gramrapriya etc. varieties have been created artificially.

How to make a Chicken Coop

There should be an open house for chickens. A house 1.5 m (5 ft) long x 1.2 m (4 ft) wide and 1 m (3.5 ft) high should be constructed. The fence of the house should be made of bamboo or wooden planks. Besides, mud walls can also be made.

The fence or wall should have holes for light and air circulation. Home rice can be made using straw, tin or bamboo straws along with polythene. 10-15 chickens can be reared in one such house.

What food to Give

Chickens eat the daily surplus or household food such as discarded rice, curry, scattered wheat, paddy, insects, discarded parts of vegetables, grass, creeper leaves, gravel, stone chips etc.

Although domestic chickens forage and gather their food, such improved breeds of chickens need to be fed a small amount of balanced food to utilize their full production capacity.

Rice powder (300 gm), broken wheat or khud (280 gm), mustard/sesame shell (200 gm), fish or soybean powder (200 gm), vitamin and mineral salt mixture like Suplivit M (20 gm) according to the number of chickens.

50-70 grams per head should be given half in the morning and half in the afternoon. In the house where chickens are kept at night, water and food should be provided in specific containers.

Free range chickens do not require much time or manpower to care for them. However, there are some things to keep in mind. Open the chicken house in the morning and give some food.

In the evening, before the hens come home, some food should be given again. The door should be closed when entering the house. So that the chicken litter does not get on the floor of the house, rice bran, sawdust is 2.5 cm thick on the floor of the house. (1 inch) thick.

If the toilet gets too clogged, it should be flushed repeatedly and cleaned every few days. If domestic chicken can be reared in this way, a good profit can be obtained with almost no cost.

The number can be increased by breeding chickens in the normal way. But that is not possible to a greater extent. The genetic superiority of native chickens can be increased by keeping improved chickens with indigenous chickens through crossbreeding and natural reproduction.

For every 10 native chickens, 1 breed chicken should be kept. The crossbred hens that hatch will lay eggs faster (at 4-5 months of age) and almost twice as many eggs (120-140 per year) than native hens.

What medicines and vaccines to use to avoid Diseases-
Disease is one of the problems in poultry farming. So regularly clean the chicken house with lime or disinfectant. Anthelmintic drugs (piperazine liquid 0.5-1 ml according to age) should be dissolved in water once every month.

Regular vaccination is essential to prevent some infectious diseases like measles or spring fever. Deworming should be done ten days before vaccination. Immunizations especially ranikshet one drop in the nose or eye at 7-10 days of age, one more time at 30 days, first deworming at 2 months and 0.5ml injection under the wings at 2 and a half months of age must be done.

Bactrim DS or Cepmax (1 pill for 10 large or 20 baby chickens) should be fed by dropper in food or water (3/5/7 days) if shivering, runny nose, difficulty breathing, thin or bloody stools are noticed.

Amount of Income

The meat and eggs of these chickens cost twice as much as foreign chickens, and are in high demand. If you can understand the market price, the profit will increase.

As a result, this business can be done only if all these methods discussed above are followed. From which can earn 50 thousand or more per month.

A vacant plot in the countryside is most advantageous. This business can also be done on a small scale on the roof of the house
